Psalm 92
1-4: Give thanks to the LORD
5-9: For His great and just works to all
10-15: And his renewal of His righteous ones
This psalm is a song for the Sabbath day – a fitting song to praise and thank God on a day set aside to honour Him and rejoice in His finished work in Creation.
The unnamed psalmist celebrates the LORD’s goodness and declares that it is good to give thanks to Him. His works in creation and humanity are great and reflective of the depth of His thoughts.
He gives justice to all, often after people have given up and accepted that wickedness will go unpunished. Unmoved and enduring, He bids His time in dealing with the wicked.
On the other hand, He exalts the righteous and anoints them with fresh oil so that they are evergreen and ever fruitful like the palm tree. The LORD is good, and there is no blemish in Him. Amen!
