Psalm 91

1-3: The Blessing of making the LORD your Refuge

4-13: The Benefits of those under the LORD’s protection

14-16: The Bliss of Him whose love is set on the LORD

The theme of this psalm is trusting in the LORD for protection. The psalmist highlights the blessedness of the one who hides in the LORD as their refuge and then details the specific actions God takes to keep such a person safe – from terrors, plagues, and destruction. 

He also commands His angels to watch over such people and keep them from harm. Since their devotion is to the LORD and no one else, He is committed to uplifting them, delivering them, and satisfying them with long life. It is wise and profitable to put one’s trust in the LORD for protection. Amen!
