13-17: Plea for divine grace and mercy

The prayer of Moses, the man of God, x-rays the brevity and troubled nature of human life in contrast to the Lord’s eternal unchanging nature. It is the first psalm in Book 4 of the Psalms.

Moses highlights the death and corruption that defines human existence as a consequence of man’s sinfulness. He asks for wisdom to live circumspectly before pleading for the Lord’s graciousness.

Left to our own devices, we humans live a sinful, frustrated, life. But we can find joy and gladness if the LORD’s mercies and good works are revealed to us. Only by His kindness do we not self-destruct. Amen!
