Psalm 76
1-3: God’s chosen city of dwelling
4-7: God’s majestic victory over the enemy
8-10: God’s just judgment of the earth
11-12: A humble response to His Majesty
This psalm of Asaph chronicles the fearsome works of God, the king of Israel and Lord over all creation.
He begins by describing His works in Zion and proceeds to describe His victory over warriors, horses, and riders. No one can stand against His wrath.
Then he describes the earth’s stillness as God arose in judgment to save the humble. The people have no choice but to praise Him in His demonstration of wrath.
The psalm concludes with a call to fulfill one’s vows to the LORD and to bring gifts to Him. Those who fail to pay obeisance in fear will be cut off! Fearful God!!!!
