Psalm 65

1-4: God’s awesomeness in His Temple

5-8: God’s awesomeness in Creation

9-13: God’s awesomeness in His Provision

This 3-part psalm of praise exalts God’s awesomeness in His temple, in Creation, and in His provision for mankind.

First, we see God in His temple, inspiring awe, answering prayer, and forgiving offences. He is holy in His majesty, yet gracious in His dealings and bestowing beauty upon humanity.

Next, we see God amidst and through His Creation, establishing mountains, stilling the roaring sea waves and the turmoil of nations. Humanity stands in awe of Him; sunrise and sunset burst out in joy!

Finally, we see Him visiting the land on which people farm, preparing it for a bountiful harvest with grains and showers. He multiplies the harvest and increases the flock. Through His abundant provision, we see God’s unfailing generosity to His people and to all of humanity. 

Our God is an awesome God. Amen!
