Psalm 52

1-4: The wicked boast in evil

5-7: But destruction from God awaits them

8-9: While the righteous find God faithful

This psalm is David’s reflection on the wickedness of one man, but it speaks to the attitude of wicked men – boasting in the evil they do and the wealth they possess.

The psalmist contrasts the wicked’s ability to achieve evil speedily with the patient trust the righteous have to develop while waiting for God. He is however assured, both that the wicked will be destroyed by God, and that the righteous will be helped by Him.

This psalm warns the wicked of their future and encourages the righteous to wait on God with praise for His wonderful works.
