This skillful psalm of Asaph is a trans-generational reminder of God’s continued faithfulness amid Israel’s repeated rebellion throughout their history.

It is a reminder for us to choose to remember God’s mighty works and not to be short-sighted by questioning His love or ability, or by going after other gods.

Our God is compassionate and faithful, but He can also bring judgment by leaving us to the consequences of our choices if we choose to continue rebelling against Him.
