Psalm 62

1-2: Introduction – Patient Trust in God

3-4: Rebuke – Cease from Wickedness

5-8: Admonition – Trust Patiently in God

9-10: Counsel – Trust Not in Man or Wealth

11-12:  Conclusion – God is Omnipotent and Just

This Davidic psalm alternates in its audience (self & others) as it builds a case for patient trust in God. 

David describes his patient trust in God (revealed through waiting in silence) before rebuking wicked hypocrites for their attack on the innocent.

Then he admonishes both himself and all peoples to trust in God before examining the alternative objects of trust – human beings and their devices, all untrustworthy.

He concludes the psalm by extolling the omnipotent, faithful, and just character of God, all combining to make Him the Only One worthy of human trust. Amen
