4-5: Blessedness of Trusting in the LORD
6-8: God’s Desire: Obedience & Submission

David begins this psalm with a testimony about being delivered and exalted by the LORD after having waited patiently on Him. He goes on to describe the blessedness of trusting in the LORD who is mindful of is rather than turning to the proud (human ability) or to falsehood (idol worship).
He then turns to the LORD, affirming that the LORD’s true desire is obedience and submission to His will rather than sacrifices and offerings. He declares he has testified of the LORD’s faithful and righteous character among the great congregation
David closes this psalm with prayers to the LORD, requesting the LORD’s mercy and truth lest his sins overtake him, and pleading for divine rescue and justification from mockers, not just for Himself, but for all those who seek the LORD.
