Psalm 37

This didactic psalm of David calls for trust in the LORD and righteous living instead of being moved by envying the prosperity of the wicked to do evil.

1-6

• Focus on pleasing the LORD instead of envying the wicked who will soon wither
• He will grant your heart’s desires and showcase your righteousness to all

7-11

• Wait patiently on the LORD and do not be driven by anger and wrath to do evil
• The wicked will be uprooted, and the righteous will receive their reward

12-15

• The wicked secretly plot to harm the righteous
• But their evil plot will come back to harm them

16-22

• The righteous is blessed and preserved by the LORD
• But the wicked perishes and disappears like smoke.

23-26

• The righteous is upheld and sustained by the LORD
• Even their descendants reap of their blessings

27-34

• The thoughts of the righteous flow from their heart into their words and actions
• They are loved and kept by the LORD, and exalted to inherit the land

35-40

• The wicked pass away and their memory is no more
• But the righteous have a glorious future and are helped by the LORD
