Psalm 33
1-5: Praise for the LORD’s Character
6-12: Praise for the LORD’s Word and works
13-17: Praise for the LORD’s Power
18-22:Praise to the LORD for deliverance
This wonderful psalm of praise presents us with several reasons to praise the LORD. It begins by commending praise as befitting to the upright, and recommending instruments which to offer praise.
Then he offers his reasons: the LORD’s faithful character, His marvellous works in creation, His eternal counsel fulfilled in all generations, His power and might revealed among humanity, and His faithfulness in delivering His people.
The psalm ends on the same note with which it begins – praising the LORD’s trustworthy character as manifested to His people. The LORD is always worthy of our praise!
