Psalm 23

This Davidic psalm – the most popular psalm in Scriptures – visualizes the LORD (YHWH) as our Shepherd who provides for, cares for and protects us at all times.

1-3: Divine Provision

The first half of this psalm focuses on the LORD’s provision for all our needs – whether in our spirit, soul or body. He provides us with food and water (physical needs), rest and safety (emotional needs), and guides us into the way of righteousness (spiritual needs) for the sake of His Name.

4-6: Divine Protection

The second half highlights the LORD’s protection for us through His consistent presence. No matter our experiences, we can rest assured that the LORD is not only with us, He abundantly provides for and tenderly cares for us even amid adversity. All our lives, we never cease to experience his good and faithful character, and our permanent dwelling is always with the LORD, because He never leaves!
