Psalm 20

This psalm is a heartfelt prayer by David for the reader to find God’s help in the day of trouble, underscored by a full confidence in the LORD’s saving power.

1-5: A Prayer for Divine Help and Protection

David knows what it is to be in trouble and in desperate need of help. As such, he invokes the ultimate source of help he knows – the LORD. He prays for the reader to be heard, protected, helped, supported, remembered, and accepted by the LORD. This, he knows, will lead to one’s plans being fulfilled and victory being assured.

6-9: Trust and Confidence in the LORD

The second half of the psalm is an expression of trust in nothing else but the LORD’s saving arm. Those who trust in their weapons of war will fall and be defeated, but those who trust in the LORD will arise and be victorious. Amen 🙏🏾
