Psalm 13

1-2: Questions to the LORD

3-4: Prayers to the LORD

5-6: Trust in the LORD

This psalm is a prayer of a man in trouble. First, he wonders why his deliverance by the LORD is delayed and how long he has to wait. Then, he makes his appeal to be answered timely, lest he is overtaken by death and his enemies rejoice. Finally, he follows his appeal with a declaration of trust in the LORD, committing to rejoicing and singing to the LORD for His protection. Delay is sometimes real, and we must make our appeal to God for His help . But our faith in His mercies is even more real, and we can choose to rejoice even before our answer arrives. Amen.
