It’s the year of the Virus, a special season
When women and men are kept in isolation
And cities are locked down in fearful dismay.

People are proud to mind the distance
As others descend into the abyss of hunger.
The hours fly by as the days roll into weeks
And weeks blend into months of the year.

But this still is the year of the Virus
Till this battle is over, and the enemy is beaten.
When people can go seek their daily bread
And children return to play on the streets.

For now we stay at home and wash our hands,
As we raise prayers to God for all of humanity
Until this Invisible Enemy is finally overcome.
